This being the first regatta of the season means that it’s going to be an anything goes event and over the years we’ve had surprises. Sailors remember last year’s day two with trepidation, it blowing hard and leading to busted gear and half the fleet opting to head ashore frozen and feeling beat up. Just the opposite this year with some drizzle Saturday and light breeze and a foggy floater on Sunday.
Saturday we got 4 races in for the fleets and none on Sunday for the Radials and Full rigs, though the 29ers and 2.4′s got some action in despite the fog. Wind was 7 knots generally starting at 90 degrees and shifting right to 135 degrees. The fleet wasn’t deep but it was stacked with former Olympians who took home the prizes.
