 NOTICE OF RACE

 

 

 1 RULES
 1.1

 

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
 1.2 The prescriptions of Sail Canada/Voile Canada  will  apply and are included as attachment 1 in this notice and posted on the official Notice board.
1.3 RRS 40 is changed to apply at all times while afloat, Failure to comply with this rule shall not be grounds for competitor protest. This changes rule 60
1.4 The sailing Instructions will consist of the Instructions in RRS Appendix S. Standard sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be o the official Notice board.

 

 

 1.5 Rule G1.1(b) will not apply to this event (National Letters)
 1.6 The Sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be on the official notice board located on the patio of the Toronto Sailing and Canoe Club.
 2 ADVERTISING
 2.1 Boat may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. If this rule is broken, World Sailing Regulation 20.9.2 applies. [
 3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
 3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the Laser, Laser Radial, Club 420, 29er, 49er, 49erFX, 2.4 mR
 3.2 Only classes with 5 or more entries received by 1700 hours on May 18, will be provided with a class start
 3.3

 

 

Boats will be registered upon receipt of a completed entry form , together ith the appropriate entry fee completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee.
 3.4 World sailing ranking for Men’s laser, Women’s laser radial and mens 49er has been designated. The event is also designated as a district 3 and Radial Fogh Gold Cup event. All laser and Radial Class entrants must comply with the requirements

 

3.5 Only entries registered in advance will be accepted(see 4.2 and 4.3)
3.6 Signed waivers and on site confirmation must be completed 0900 hours on May 19
 4 FEES
4.1 Required fees are as follows:

Class                 Fee

Singlehanded     $80.00 (including HST)

Doublehanded $120.00(including HST) Other fees:

A late fee of 20.00 will apply for registrations received after May 16th, at 1700 hours

 5 SCHEDULE
 5.1 Competitors are expected to check in with the regatta desk to confirm their arrival. Regatta registration will take place Friday

Friday May 18      2000 to 2100 hours

Saturday May 19  0800-0900 hours

 5.2 Racing is scheduled to take place on May 19 and 20, 2018
 5.3 The first warning signal on May 19th is scheduled for 1100 hours and 1000 hours on Sunday May 20.
 5.4 Number of races:

Not more than 4 races are scheduled for each class except the 49er, 49FX and 29er classes which shall have no more than 5 races on any one day

 

 5.5 On the last scheduled day of racing no warning signal will be made after 1430 on Sunday May 20th.
  MEASUREMENT
 6.1 A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with their class rules
 6.2 All competitors are reminded that in accordance with RRS 78.1, they are responsible for ensuring that their boat is maintained in accordance with the class rules and that the measurement certificate , where applicable, remains valid.
 7.1 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available online not later than May 15th, 2018 at www.tscc.net

 7.2 VENUE

All racing will take place on or adjacent to Humber bay, course locations will be outlined in the sailing Instructions

7.3 THE COURSES

The courses to be sailed will be either Windward/Leeward or Trapezoid configurations

8 PENALTY SYSTEM

 

8.1 RRS Appendix P will apply to breeches of rule 42, except for P2.3 shall not apply and P2.2 is changed so it will apply to any penalty after the first one
 8.2 For 29er, 49erFX, and 49er classes RRS 44.1 and RRS P2.1 are changed so that  the two turn penalty is replaced by the one turn penalty.
 8.3 The Sailing Instructions may include a specification of discretionary penalties that may be applied by the protest committee for breeches of specific rules. The sailing Instructions may include a specification of standard penalties that may be applied by the Race Committee without a hearing for breeches of specific rules : this will change RRS 63.1  and Appendix A.5. These will appear in the sailing instructions
8.4 For the 49er, 29er, and 49erFX classes RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
   
   

 

 

9 SCORING
 9.1 The scoring system as outlined in RRS Appendix A2 will apply with the following provided

 

 

 

 9.2 1 race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
 9.3 (a)   When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
9.4 (b)   When from 5 to 9 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
9.5 (c)   When 10 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.
 10 BERTHING

 

10.1 Launching facilities for all dinghy classes are located at TS&CC; all boats at this location shall be kept in their assigned locations
10.2 All boats must be removed from all club facilities by may 22nd unless written agreement is given by facilities management

 

 

 11 RADIO COMMUNICATION

Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats.

 12 PRIZES

The first 3 boats in each class will receive recognition. In the laser class: the best Youth (18 and under), Master, Grand Master and great grand master will be recognized.

 13 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta
entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4,
Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

 14 INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.

 15 AMENDMENTS TO THE NORFURTHER INFORMATION

Dated amendments to this Notice of Race will be posted at www.tscc.net and on the Official Notice board.
